Classical Reception in Modern Popular Culture
Classical reception is a field of study that examines how the ancient world, Greece and Rome, was transmitted, received, and adapted in different periods and cultures. When studying classical reception in modern popular culture, we focus on the use of Greece and Rome in movies, television, literature, music, marketing, media, and other cultural products. We investigate how the use of antiquity is changing from generation to generation and how these changes reflect the culture that produces these creations. We thus learn not only about the past, but also about the present.
