Papyrology

Most of the ancient literature and administrative activities were written and carried out not on stone or bronze plates but rather on the thin sheets made of papyrus plant. This perishable material has not survived to our day, except in highly dry regions, such as Egypt and the Dead Sea area. Reading texts written on papyrus, Dr. Hava Bracha Korzakova’s specialty, provides a much richer picture of everyday life and literary reality in antiquity than that based on books and inscriptions alone.
